Project Overview
What is Covered365?

Detego Health sought to transform its web-based health benefits platform into a user-friendly mobile application. The goal was to simplify navigation, improve accessibility, and streamline interactions for small business owners and their employees. This case study explores the development process, key features, and impact of the new app.

Problem

Detego Health's challenge was to develop a mobile app that delivers a user-friendly experience and mirrors the web platform’s functionality, addressing key issues like navigation difficulties and the need for clearer access to benefits and wellness features.

Solution

We implemented a streamlined navigation system to reduce clicks and simplify access to key information, updated labels and ensured all links are clearly visible and clickable, removed or repurposed non-functional elements, and redesigned the interface to make important features more accessible and user-friendly.

Heuristic and Usability Evaluation

The heuristic evaluation of Detego Health's platform identified several key issues: the navigation bar is overly complex and requires excessive clicks, labels and links are confusing and not clearly clickable, and the layout is ineffective, particularly for "My Account" and the "More" tab. Additionally, certain features are underutilized, such as visible buttons on contact accumulators, and functionalities like the search function, notes, and notifications are not effectively employed.

The screen resembles a 'logged out' state rather than a personalized dashboard.
Key features and important information are not immediately accessible or visible.
The 'More' tab is cluttered and difficult to navigate, which can overwhelm users.
My Information
The last two tabs in the navigation disappear when entering 'My Information,' reducing accessibility.
The 'Related' tab label is unclear, and links within this tab are not obviously clickable.
Users have to return to the home screen to access 'Forms' and 'More' tabs, creating unnecessary steps.
My Claims
A list view for 'My Claims' may be effective, but a more interactive or summarized approach might be beneficial.
The claims overview lacks interactive elements that could enhance user engagement.
There are no clear indications or prevention mechanisms for errors while managing claims.

Scoping out the Competition

To improve Detego Health's platform, we analyzed competitors like Sana Benefits, Stride Health, and Virgin Pulse to discover best practices in user experience and design. We concentrated on:

  • Effective user engagement through rewards systems and interactive wellness challenges (Virgin Pulse).

  • Friendly and approachable illustrations with vibrant colors for a welcoming atmosphere (Stride Health).

  • A clean and clear interface that simplifies health benefits management (Sana Benefits).

Detego Loader

During discussions with developers, it was identified that the current Detego Health home screen suffers from performance issues due to the substantial amount of data being loaded simultaneously. This can lead to slower load times and a less responsive user experience. To address these concerns and improve the user experience, we propose implementing a universal loader. This loader will streamline the data loading process, ensuring that users experience smoother and more efficient interactions with the platform.

Displays detailed personal and account information, including contact details, plan specifics, and account settings.

Provides an overview and management options for all user claims, including status updates and detailed claim information.
